The annual Sport for Life Canadian Summit begins tomorrow!
From January 26-29 and February 2-4, the Canadian Kinesiology Alliance will promote the profession by joining in on the Pathway to Policy.
Align with its strategic plan and goal to raise awareness of the profession of kinesiology, the CKA will attend The Sport for Life Canadian Summit bringing together leaders who work to enhance the quality of sport and physical activity in Canada. Sport for Life recognizes that quality sport and physical literacy offer rich benefits to Canadian society through improved health, stronger communities, higher sporting achievement, and stronger national identity.
In the journey to 2021, the core concepts of long-term development including physical literacy, quality sport, inclusion, and lifelong accessibility are becoming the new normal in programming sport and physical activity. The CKA will investigate the need to embed long-term development policies into all sport- and physical activity-related organizations: addressing systemic racism in sport and physical activity, including but not limited to, anti-Black racism and anti-Indigenous racism; furthering our learning, to contribute to the global conversation around anti-racism, and to determine the steps to take to disrupt, dismantle and abolish racism. The time is now to move beyond being dependent on individual champions to where quality experiences FOR ALL are entrenched within policies to ensure organizations sustain best practices.
